Today when I was playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky, I got to that point of the
game where you're required to pass from 'The Cordon' area to the 'Garbage'
area, in order to get info about the stalker called Fang. To my surprise, when
I got near the exit of the Cordon, each time I tried to go forward towards the
Garbage, the game somehow refused to let me pass, because each time when I
clicked 'Yes' on the dialog box that was asking me if I want to go to another
area, it somehow teleported me backwards, face-back in the same building.
I've been searching for a fix for this, and somehow I managed, after consulting the different fixes that are out there and which are more complicated than mine, to make 'my own 100% working' fix.
This bug occurs after you've applied the 1.5.04 ENGLISH patch to the game and can be fixed by following the next few steps:
!! Make sure you have the english version of 1.5.04 patch installed and an untouched version of the game (that means that this fix might not work if you've already tried to apply other supposed fixes) !!
1. Download this archive that I've uploaded here: http://phantomsoftware.org/shizz/db_unpacker.rar
2. Move/Copy that archive into your X:/Games/STALKER CLEAR SKY/patches directory (where X:/Games/ is the drive letter and folder that contains the Stalker installation directory). To be certain that it's the correct patches directory, you should look for the following file: xpatch_04.db that should be located therein. Once you have confirmed that the folder where you have copied the archive is the correct one, move on to step 3.
3. Extract the archive that you downloaded at step 1, in the same folder (not in a new folder!! - just select 'Extract here...' instead of 'Extract to "folder-name"...' if you're using WinRAR Archiver)
4. Run the db_unpack_patch_04_auto.bat that should've been extracted there if you followed step 3 correctly. After you ran the batch file, and waited for it's completition, a new directory called gamedata will be created inside the patches folder.
Note: Make sure you are on an administrator account on the machine you're using, before you run the db_unpack_patch_04_auto.bat file. If the account that you're on has insufficient privileges the gamedata folder might not be created and you'll not be able to proceed to the next step.
Next proceed to step 5.
5. Move the gamedata folder outside the patches folder by Cut/Paste-ing it in the X:/Games/STALKER CLEAR SKY/ (where X:/Games/ is the drive letter and folder that contains the Stalker installation directory) folder.
6. Delete the file xpatch_04.db located in the patches folder. After you've deleted the file and have moved the gamedata directory as instructed in step 5, proceed to step 7.
7. Download this file here: http://phantomsoftware.org/shizz/gamedata.rar
8. Extract its contents in the X:/Games/STALKER CLEAR SKY/ directory (where X:/Games/ is the drive letter and folder that contains the Stalker installation directory) and replacing/overwritting any existing files.
9. Start-up the game, quick-load or load-up your last savegame and go and check out the Garbage!!
Note: You don't need to start a game from the beginning in order to proceed to Garbage. You can just quickload or load any of your savegames.
